Farewell Mobile Cortana: No More Updates from 2021
The famous virtual assistant will say her last good-bye in 2021 to iOS and Android. Microsoft discontinues the utility’s support for mobile platforms and Bluetooth speakers. However, Cortana will stay on PC.
Cortana has already been withdrawn in a number of regions. And it won’t be available anymore for iOS and Android, as well as Korean Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers.
2021 will be the last year of Cortana’s mobile existence. Instead, Redmond’s corporation will focus on Cortana’s productivity features.
The virtual assistance will be available as part of the MS 365 package. Namely, her skills will be integrated into Outlook, Teams, and other similar office apps. It doesn’t mean, though, that the assistant won’t be available from your phone at all.
You still will be able to employ Cortana’s services but only through Teams and other MS 365 services. “In early 2021, we’ll stop supporting the Cortana app for mobile (iOS and Android), because you can now manage your calendar and email, join meetings, and do so much more via our new productivity-focused experiences”, says the company.
Additionally, Harman Kardon users will get a nice little compensation. Those owners of the Harman speakers who requested Cortana after July 2019 and before July 30, 2020, will get a $50 gift card that can be used on the Microsoft Store.
Besides, from now on, Cortana will exclusively be a productivity assistant. Some of its features from the younger days — like music, smart home control and entertainment — will be permanently deleted from her portfolio.
Harman Kardon Invoke users can see full details of the compensation offer on this page. Hurry up, as the deal is temporary and expires on July 31, 2021. Here you can sign in and claim the bonus gift card.
